PATRIARCHAL BLESSING Given Upon The Head of Bro. James Berry
Tomlinson |
| James Berry Tomlinson, as a Patriarch in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I lay my hands upon your head and give you a blessing. Thou art one of God's chosen servants and a blessing of a Son of God is placed upon your head. You are in the lineage of Ephraim and that lineage is in the lineage of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and thou art one of God's chosen servants. He has sent you here upon the earth for a wise purpose, to receive this tabernacle to prepare you for another world, that you might go on and perform a great and a might work behind the veil. Without this body, you could accomplish nothing. For when you are in the presence of God, you are a spirit, but by receiving this tabernacle for that spirit to dwell in, thou art prepared for a great and a might work behind the veil. Thou hast dwelt here upon the earth for these many years and thou hast made covenants with the Father and have yielded obedience to the Law and are not prepared, having the Holy Priesthood placed upon your head, to cry repentance unto the inhabitants of another world. For there are many there in the Paradise of our God, or in other words, the prison house, that have never heard the Gospel of the Son of God, and when you go hence, your voice will ring out amongst those who are there, crying repentance and they will listen to your voice and then will look forward anxiously for someone of their kindred, or their friends, to go forth in the Temple of our God and there perform a work for them that they may be released from that Prison House. And when they are released, they will fall upon the necks of those who performed this work and have released them. And while you are here upon the earth, thou shalt have a privilege, if thou so desires, to enter into that Sacred and Holy place, the Temple of our God, and perform a certain work that they may be released. Thou shalt have this privilege, if thou so desires, and when that time comes, the Spirit of Life, this Spirit of the Living God, will rest mightily upon you and urge you forward to this great and noble work. Brother Tomlinson, I bless you, for you name is written in the Lamb's Book of Life will have Eternal life in the presence of the Father. Your children and your children's children will rise up and call you blessed, for you have been a kind father to them here upon the earth. Thou hast taught them the Gospel. Your voice hast been raised in defense of Zion. Your children's children will be noble and they will rise up and they will take an active part in this great work of our God here upon the earth. Their names will be handed down through future generations and they will live to see the coming of the Son of God here upon the earth. They will take an active part in building up the Temples of our God that will be erected here upon this continent, for this work is a mighty work and we need Temples of our God erected wherever the Saints of God may enter in and perform this great and noble work for the salvation of the human family. Your children will have this privilege, Brother Tomlinson, and when you go hence, they will say, "Oh! My Father, My grandfather. He was one of God's noble men here upon the earth!" and they will rejoice to strew flowers over your grave. Brother Tomlinson, your table shall be spread with the bounties of men and you will have no lack for the Lord will open your way through your children, and through the kindness of those human souls, they will see that father never suffers. He will never go without bread, He will never go without a comfortable habitation to live in. Brother Tomlinson, as a servant of the Lord, I lay my hands upon your head and seal you to come forth on the morning of the first resurrection, crowned with the glory of Eternal Life. This is your blessing, for you have kept your first estate and you will keep your second estate, and your third estate you will surely keep when you are in the presence of God. Brother Tomlinson, I give you a blessing and I do it in the name of God and in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
